Parent Meetings and Workshops
Parent meetings are a great way to learn valuable information about your child's learning and to discuss important topics pertaining to the school year. All parents are highly encouraged to attend these meetings, and each meeting attended will count towards 2 work hours.
Parent workshops will share valuable information on the Montessori method and ways that you can extend what is being learned at school into the home. Check the calendar to stay up to date on the lastest meeting and workshops scheduled.
Volunteering Opportunities
There are many volunteering opportunites throughout the year. Volunteers are needed to assist with each of the Holiday Celebrations and often around the classroom when a teacher is absent. All volunteering opportunities count towards required semester work hours. Teacher substitute postitions are also available to parents who complete required training and paperwork.
The school board is also a great way to be involved with the school. If you are interested in volunteering for the board, please email the school. Board positions count towards all of your work hours.
Parents may visit the school at any time during the hours of operation (7am-6pm) to observe their children, the school's operation, and program activites without prior approval. Any improtant information concerning students, the schools operation, and progrma activites will be posted in the school door windows, on the clip by the sign in table, or sent home with the children.

Parent Conferences and Communication
Parent conferences are held twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall to discuss their children's progress in the classroom. One month prior to conferences, each parent will recieve a form to schedule a time to come observe thier child working in the classroom. After the observation is completed, a conference will be scheduled to dicuss what has been observed and answer any questions. Phone conferneces and face to face conferences can also be scheduled thorughout the year by making an appointment. "Door conferences" during drop off and pick up are discouraged.
A commutication journal is available by the front door near the sign in sheet for parents to write messages for the the teachers about changes in pick up/drop off, or any other important information the parent might need to relay to the teachers.
Work Hours and Work Days
Each family is required to complete 10 work hours per semester. A log to record these hours is available in the handbook. Ways to earn hours include volunteering at the school and attending parent meetings and workshops. Failure to complete work hours will result in a $15 charge per hour missed.
There will be a Saturday work day held each semester to make improvements to the school. One member of each family is reuquired to attend each work day. These work days are not only very important for helping maintain our school, but are also a great chance to meet other parents. Work days do not count towards semester work hours, and failure to attend a work day will result in a $75 charge.
